Provironum

Provironum is an oral androgen medication produced by Schering which has only a small central inhibitory effect and therefore does not have a limiting effect on testicular function. Proviron (as it is commonly called) has the active ingredient, Mesterolone, which compensates for the lack of endogenous androgens due to a decrease in their production with age or for other reasons. Therefore, Proviron is suitable for the treatment of all conditions resulting from insufficient production of endogenous androgens. At the recommended therapeutic dosage, Proviron will not interfere with spermatogenesis. Proviron is also particularly well tolerated by the liver.

The beneficial effects of the drug

Proviron improves the quality and increases the number of sperm cells. It compensates for insufficient production of male sex hormones (androgens), having a stimulating effect on the development of male genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics, improves libido and sexual vigor, shows anabolic properties and stimulates erythropoiesis.

Usage recommendations

Proviron by Schering comes in tablets containing 25mg of the active substance which are taken orally with water. The recommended dosage of the drug is 50mg to 150mg per day (2-6 tablets) depending on the individual’s goal from the cycle and tolerance to the drug. The duration of the Proviron cycle is usually in the range of 6 to 12 weeks.

Side effects

Proviron is well-tolerated, even with respect to liver function. Laboratory tests performed during high-dose and long-term treatment have yielded no evidence of harmful effects. Periodic examinations of the prostate gland are recommended for the purpose of prevention. The formation of benign, and even rarer, malignant liver tumors has very rarely been observed after taking the hormones that make up Proviron.
